Domain Trust
Domain Trust (often conceptualized as TrustRank) is a highly guarded algorithmic metric that evaluates the legitimacy and safety of a website based entirely on the quality of its backlink profile. Google determines trust by measuring how many “link hops” a website is away from a universally trusted seed site (like Wikipedia, Harvard University, or the BBC). If a domain receives a direct link from Harvard, its Domain Trust is massive. If a domain is five links removed from Harvard, but directly linked to by thousands of spam directories, its trust is zero. High Domain Trust allows a website to rank for competitive keywords with significantly fewer total backlinks than untrusted competitors.
Domain Trust Simplified
Domain Trust is Google’s measurement of how safe and legitimate your website is. Google completely trusts massive websites like universities and major newspapers. The closer you are to getting a link from one of those trusted sites, the more Google trusts you, making it infinitely easier for you to rank.
