Content Relevance
Content relevance is the measure of how accurately and comprehensively a webpage satisfies the specific intent behind a user’s search query. It is the single most important on-page ranking factor. Google’s algorithms (like BERT and MUM) do not just look for exact-match keywords; they analyze the entire semantic context of the page to determine if it truly answers the user’s question. If a user searches for “how to fix a leaky roof,” a page selling new roofs lacks content relevance and will not rank. Dominating the SERP requires engineering content that perfectly aligns with the exact psychological state of the searcher.
Content Relevance Simplified
Content relevance is how well your webpage actually answers the question someone typed into Google. If someone searches for “apple” looking for the fruit, but your page is about Apple computers, your page is not relevant and Google will not show it to them.
