Star Rating (SEO)
A star rating is the aggregated numerical score (typically out of 5) derived from customer reviews, prominently displayed beneath a business’s name in the Google Local Pack or as a rich snippet in the organic search results. While Google has stated that a business needs a minimum rating of 4.0 to be considered “high quality” by consumers, the sheer volume of reviews often outweighs a perfect 5.0 score. A business with a 4.7 rating and 500 reviews will almost always outrank a business with a 5.0 rating and only 5 reviews, as the algorithm prioritizes the statistical significance of the data.
Star Rating (SEO) Simplified
A star rating is the average score of all your customer reviews shown right on Google. It is the first thing people see when they search for your business. Having a massive number of reviews is actually more important to Google than having a perfect 5-star score.
