De-indexing
De-indexing is the process of a webpage or an entire website being removed from a search engine’s index, making it completely invisible in search results. This can happen intentionally (via a noindex tag applied by a webmaster) or punitively (via a Google manual action penalty for violating spam policies). When a site is penalized and de-indexed for black hat tactics, it loses 100% of its organic traffic overnight. Conversely, strategic de-indexing of low-value, thin, or duplicate content is a powerful technical SEO tactic used to consolidate authority and improve the overall quality score of a domain.
